Presentation Skills Training and Coaching

Speak to Persuade! When Being Informative is Not Enough.

Be Your Most Confident, Inspirational Self

This program is about learning how to be at your most confident, inspirational best as a presenter and public speaker. It will help you to stretch, grow, and further develop your ability to influence the thinking, feelings, decision making and actions of your listeners. It’s about moving beyond being simply informative, and moving into becoming a more powerful and persuasive presenter.

One-on-One Coaching

The value gained in this experience hinges largely on the opportunity to apply skills and techniques being discussed, and receiving feedback on your individual performance. Working one-on-one allows us the time to respond to specific concerns that you encounter in developing and delivering high impact presentations. It also gives us more time to practice skills during each session and work on specific issues and areas of challenge. In other words, each session is tailored to meet your needs.

Designed for…

One-on-one coaching or groups of up to five participants

Format and timeframes

This training program is divided into 3 sessions, each one lasting about 3 – 4 hours. There should be a week, and no more than 2 weeks, between each session. The training culminates at the third and final session when you will be delivering a fully developed and rehearsed, final presentation. Video feedback will be used as an integral and critical part of the coaching experience.

Session Description

During this initial session, I’ll work with you to build a foundational understanding of how impression management works and what needs to happen in order for you to be quickly and consistently perceived as a confident, competent, and convincing communicator. Core content includes:

  • How to manage the critical, first 30 seconds — What do you project, and how are you perceived?
  • How to get stage fright to work for you instead of against you.
  • What your nonverbal impact or what your body language and voice says about you.

You will have the opportunity to be videotaped during this first session. This will give you the chance to see and hear yourself in action, and do a critical, self-analysis. I will also be providing you with detailed, targeted feedback, and on-the-spot coaching.

Session Objectives

At the end of this session, you will be able to…

  • Project a consistent level of confidence even when under pressure.
  • Build rapport and trust with your listeners.
  • Establish credibility right up front.
  • Create a likeable presence that allows you to connect with and engage your audience.
  • Develop a flexible style that ranges from authoritative and decisive to open and responsive.
Session Description

At this second session, we will talk about how to develop and structure persuasive presentations, as well as hot to position and craft key points to maximize the impact of your core message. We’ll also begin to take a look at how to effectively manage the Q&A portion of a presentation.

You will be asked to arrive at this session with an outline of the presentation that you will deliver at the final session so you can begin to apply our discussion to your specific presentation, keeping in mind the overall goals and objectives for your talk.

There will be at least one videotaped exercise during this second session to help you become more consciously aware of how you are coming across, and therefore the kind impact you are making. The goal will be for you to develop an acute awareness around what you are projecting, whether speaking to one or many, which then determines how you are viewed.

Session Objectives

At the end of this session, you will be able to…

  • Identify the key elements involved in developing powerful presentations that will be remembered for all the right reasons.
  • Develop a presentation structure that is clear, concise and convincing.
  • Describe the use and balance of content with logical & emotional appeal and the vital role each plays.
  • Craft your Key Overriding Message, describing what it is, why it’s important, and how to put it to effective use.
  • Use my Fast Five Steps as a blueprint for building presentations designed to obtain audience buy-in.
  • Stay on top of, and effectively manage, the Q & A portion of a presentation.
Session Description

This third and final session is when we pull all parts of the presentation together. You will be asked to return with a revised version of your fully developed persuasive presentation. You should also have rehearsed its delivery, keeping in mind the various concepts and techniques related to your nonverbal impact as discussed.

Feedback will be given on how effectively you have accomplished that, as well as, on the impact of your delivery or body language.

Your entire presentation, and the feedback received, will be videotaped. All of it will then be copied onto a DVD and mailed to the respective participant for personal review, and to be used as a tool by which you can continue to reinforce your individual learning and skill development.

Session Objectives

At the end of this session, you will be able to…

  • Deliver a presentation that puts to use all of the concepts and skills that have been discussed and practiced in the previous two sessions.
  • Design and develop your presentations with a particular audience in mind, targeting specific objectives and goals that respond to the needs, challenges, and concerns of that particular audience.
  • Capture and maintain interest while projecting a clear sense of confidence and credibility.
